Action: Working with LVEJO
Little Village Environmental Organization
My overall goal was to join LVEJO with their action of bringing back the 31st bus line. The organization wanted to know if people had access to certain sectors of the city through the 31ststreet. Since majority of the people use this main street it would be beneficial to have a bus that ran east to west. This then connects to my topic because in order to at
least decrease the amount of oil or gasoline people consume, it will be best to have people use public transportation. Because when people do not use their own individual cars, they waste less gas.
LVEJO is a community organization that helps to have more resources, such as parks, schools, and have a more sustainably healthy environment. An example of their work was their involvement in the removal of the coal power on Pulaski and 34th. The community wanted it to be removed because it was emitting CO2amongst other lethal toxins. It was successfully removed and now they are currently working on having the community decide what they want to have there.
Once I contacted LVEJO I went to meet with them and explained to them my research paper and action plan. After that, I began to go to their office located on Millard and 28th, where I made flyers and hand delivered them on 31stand 26 street.
